Welcome to Kumudini Nursing College. It is a great honor to serve as Principal of Kumudini Nursing College (KNC). In 1944, Rai Bahadur Ranada Prasad Shaha opened Kumudini Hospital, believing that "serving humanity is not charity — it is my duty." He gave his life to this belief, especially through the education of women in Bangladesh. His spirit brought me to Kumudini, and I want to carry it forward. Kumudini has always opened new doors in nursing education. Founded in 1973 as one of the first private nursing institutes in Bangladesh, we went on to start the country's first private B.Sc. in Nursing (2007) and MSN (2019) programs. Today, affiliated with the University of Dhaka, we educate more than 1,200 students. In 2026, BRAC Bank honored KNC as a lighthouse for the country and its people. As Principal, I will focus on three priorities. Our students. Nurses can care for others well only when they are healthy themselves. I want every student to grow strong in body and mind at KNC, gain real skills at Kumudini Hospital, and leave with a dream for her future. Our faculty. Our guiding principle is "Building and Empowering People." We are creating clear roles, fair systems, and more chances for our teachers to study, research and lead. When our teachers grow, our students grow with them. Higher nursing education. Bangladesh needs nurses who can lead, teach and create new knowledge. Our Specialized Nursing Programs give registered nurses one year of advanced training in six areas: renal, pediatric, critical care, trauma, oncology and cardiac nursing. Our MSN program prepares nurses to conduct research, use statistics well, and write high-quality theses. Building on this, we are working toward opening a PhD in Nursing program in Bangladesh. We are not doing this alone. KNC has MOUs with several universities abroad. Chungbuk National University College of Nursing in Korea joins us every January for our Global Exchange Program, and the PMCI team of Korean doctors and nurses runs workshops every November. Simmons University in the United States also supports our faculty through training in palliative care, simulation and nursing education. To future students, I warmly invite you to join us.
